As I sit down to reflect on this beautiful sunny afternoon, I can't help but marvel at the profound power of connection. It's a force that often works quietly, weaving its magic through the threads of our lives, sometimes in the most unexpected of ways.
This morning was one of those instances. I had reached out to someone on LinkedIn who lives locally, however the link was we had both attended Loughborough University in the UK.
After a few false starts where calendars didn’t align we met this morning over a coffee, I had the pleasure of meeting someone who I believe will soon become more than just a casual acquaintance.
As we exchanged stories and experiences, I discovered that this newfound acquaintance was not just a contact on LinkedIn but a kindred spirit.
We quickly moved into a meaningful connection rooted in shared memories and mutual interests. We found ourselves immersed in conversation, deeply listening and effortlessly bridging the gap between our respective backgrounds and life journeys.
What struck me the most was how seamlessly our lives seemed to intersect, how comfortable we were in sharing openly and in this we discovered so many things in common, including the challenge of having close family at either side of the world.
In that moment, I was reminded of the beauty of human connection—the way it has the power to transcend barriers and bring people together, regardless of distance or circumstance.
It really felt we had found a new friend and are already planning our next catch up with respective partners. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful connections are forged by making that little bit of effort, over something as simple as a cup of coffee.
